DDTank

DDTank is a free to play turn-based browser shooting game developed by ShenZhen 7 Road Technology. It reminds me of a classical game Worms, as they share the similar gameplay. Some players even consider it a 100% clone of Gunbound, a client based MMO shooting game. If you have ever played Worms or Gunbound, you would not feel unfamiliar with DDTank.

There are only two available characters: Male and Female, which means every two players, share the same face! To avoid being “another face in the crowd”, the only choice is to purchase costumes and adornments with real life currency. Meeting vanity and earning money, what a common but cunning shortcut for free MMOs to collect fortune! Your characters have heads four times bigger than the normal size, pretty much cartoon like. I couldn’t help wondering how much possibility they will survive fierce battles, when keeping balance seemed so challenging.

The world of DDTank has got no background stories, all that you need to know is how to aim and shoot. At the beginning of each round, you could select some power ups and multiple shooting times to help you strike your enemy effectively. The combinations you choose are directly bound to “stam”, the physical strength. Having decided what effects to use, you are still faced with angle and power. Adjusting the shooting angle is almost impossible. With only 20 to 30 convertible degrees, I find myself aiming at the sky rather than the direction I need. Fortunately, we have the power bar. Shooting power keep growing until you release the spacebar, then one attack is finally done. As a newbie, don’t mind too much about the wind influence, or you will be more confused.

When you engage a random opponent, there will be no level limit. So facing someone with magnificent equips and supremely accuracy is nothing strange. Enjoy the absolute defeat! Believe me, losing a combat in no time is no big deal, falling into an endless fight is really suffering. Some “hitting air” players would insist fighting each other willing no surrender, without a battle time limit, it is going to be forever.

The setting of spa room is not good. You need to stay connected to the game in the spa, or no EXP would be gained. Why wasting time in that scene waiting for those small amount of EXP? Other buildings like Armory, Community and Firing Range are also to some extent useless. “Jack of all trades, master of none”, if they are not necessarily outstanding, please cut them loose.

To sum up, DDTank is a game with ordinary artwork and generalized gameplay. It is not a world for innovation but relaxation.
